Origin of last name Lichtner, country of origin: GermanyNobility: Nobles - Knights
1828–24 December 1891), a Dutch heraldist and genealogist, "The Armorial General", a monumental work that contains the blazons of the coats of arms of more than 130,000 European families. The main branch of the family, although belonging to the little Polish nobility, enjoying some estates, passed instead to reside in the territories ex Prussia, changing the old name only with the advent of the Nazis, when the family members had the chance to Germanize their Polish surname. Many family members, between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries, emigrated from their homeland. We have, for example, the memory of a Caspar, who moved to Aachen, on the end of the sixteenth century, where practiced the teaching profession. The largest settlement is nevertheless recorded in the city of Gelsenkirchen, a city in the North Rhine-Westphalia state of Germany. Family names so old, without any doubt, honor not only families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious members.
