Don Diego de L. y Fernández de Cáceres, fue Alcalde Mayor de Tenerife y más tarde Oidor de Su Majestad en la Real Audiencia de Canarias, casando en La Laguna el día 9 de mayo de 1831, con Doña María Altagracia de Castro y Benítez de Lugo. De este matrimonio hubo tre hijos, nacidos en Las Palmas. Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la toma de Barcelona el año 803, formando parte de las tropas que Alfonso II envió a su aliado y amigo Carlomagno para reforzar el sitio que las tropas francas y el godo Bera habían iniciado en el año 801 contra el gobernador de Barcelona el islámico Zado.
