Nobility crown MújicaProcede este linaje del de Avendaño y fue su progenitor Juan Gaínez de Avendaño, hijo primogénito de Fortún García de Avendaño, Señor de Armayona, Mújica y Arteaga. Al referido Juan Galíndez de Avendaño, le correspondió el Señorío de M. o M., villa que pertenece hoy al partido judicial de Guernica, y por ello comenzó a llamarse Múgica. Contrajo matrimonio con Doña Juana Iñiguez (hija natural del Infante Don Juan Manuel), y procrearon a Juan Alonso de M., que por su madre antepuso el Alonso al Múgica, y heredó el Señorío de Armayona. Casó con Doña Juana, hija de Pedro González de Agüero y tuvo una sola hija llamada María Alonso de Múgica, mujer de Gonzalo Gómez de Butrón, que tuvo entre otros hijos a Juan de Múgica, heredero del solar de Múgica. Este abrazó el estado religioso, pasando la heredad a su hermano segundo, Gomez González de Brutrón. Descendientes de esta Caballero se extendieron por las villas de Villafranca de Oria e Idiazábal, del partido judicial de Tolosa, en Guipúzcoa, por el lugar de Gudugarrea, del Ayuntamiento de Beasain, y por la villa de Goyaz, estas dos últimas del partido judicial de Azpeitia, también en Guipúzcoa. "Por petición de Pedro de Vera -refiere Abreu-, el Rey Católico mandó a Miguel de Moxica fuese a Vizcaya, a las Montañas, y juntase doscientos vizcaínos y con ellos se viniese a esta isla lo más breve que pudiera, dándole todo lo que fuese menester y orden para ello. Y así lo hizo, con la diligencia posible. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia M., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento banda quiere decir que pertenecieron a órdenes militares de caballería.
