Lo Zagata dice che, il 26 luglio 1239, Costantino M., essendo di parte guelfa, venne esiliato da Verona; invece i guelfi, nel 1393, bruciarono la casa di Giovanni Francesco M., di Bergamo, ove in seguito esercitarono il notariato alcuni Maccare. Ma per quello che riguarda più specialmente le vicende dei Maccare nel Veneto le notizie vengono meno nei secoli XV e XVI. Solo in quello successivo si apprende che, il 10 giugno 1627, un Angelo Maccare, Contestabile alla Porta di Porto della fortezza di Legnago, era già morto in quell'epoca, forse nell'adempiere il suo dovere con altri compagni. Nel 1633 un Claudio era cittadino di Trento e nel 1655 tra i notai di Reggio vi era Giovanni Maccare, i cui documenti si conservano in quell'Archivio notarile.
