Nobility crown Malbec De BrigesCette famille, qui, de 1330 à 1555, a compté six admissions au chapitre noble de Brioude, appartient à la province du Gévaudan où est située la terre de Briges, son antique patrimoine, sur laquelle fut, en 1776, transféré le titre de baronnie des états particuliers de ce pays, affecté auparavant à la baronnie de Mercoeur, acquise quelques années plus tôt par le marquis de Briges, qui a ce titre de baron de Mercoeur prit séance, en 1772, aux Etats généraux de Languedoc, comme baron de tour du Gévaudan et à cette occasion dit justifier de 400 ans de noblesse. Pierre, chevalier, paraît en effet, en un acte des calendes d'octobre 1300. Louis de La Roque donne la filiation de cette famille depuis Guillaume, qui, vers 1370, épousa Catherine de Garsin, le cinquième descendant duquel, Claude, fils à autre Guillaume, seigneur de Briges, et de Catherine de Geys de Pampelonne, dont le mariage est de 1522; épousa, le 18 juin 1565, demoiselle Sébastienne de Montjeu, fille unique et héritière de M. Jean de Montjeu, seigneur de Maurines, en la paroisse Sainte-Marie-de-Thines, qu'elle apporta en dot, et qui, depuis, demeura dans le patrimoine de la famille de Malbec, qui cepedant, paraît avoir toujours conservé sa résidence en Gévaudan, où elle substiste encore. ...
