Procede de la villa de M. (cuyo nombre tomó), del partido judicial de Urgell (Lérida). De dicha casa descendió Pedro M., hombre de mucho valor y ardimiento en la guerra, por lo que fue terror de los moros del reino de Valencia. Estando en el sitio de Játiva hizo bastantes correrías por los lugares immediatos, recogiendo abundante botín. Sin duda, descendientes de este caballero y fundadores de Ayelo de M., del partido judicial de Onteniente (Valencia), fueron los que poseyeron en la mencionada villa una casa de mucho lustre, de la que fue Jaime M., natural y señor de Ayelo de M., que tuvo este hijo. Jaime M., natural y señor de Ayelo de M., que casó con doña Francisca de Torrellas (hija de mosén Juan de Torrellas, caballero de la Orden de Santiago, y de doña Isabel Moscó). Procrearon a Francisco M. y Torrellas, natural y señor de Ayelo de M. y caballero de la Orden de Santiago, en la que ingresó en 1528. En Mallorca residían ya caballeros de este apellido en 1239, año en que Berenguer Ferrer vendío a Bernardo M. la posesión "Cuba". En 1285, Pedro M. era diputado por Inca, y Bernardino y Guillermo M., por Escorca. Jaime M. fue secretario y camarero del rey don Alonso V de Aragón, y tuvo este hijo. Mateo M., natural de Inca y gran jurisconsulto, embajador del rey de Aragón. Ganada la ciudad de Nápoles en 1442, fue nombrado regente de aquel reino. Comentó las obras de Palmerio y murió en 1460. ...
