Nobility crown MantschFamille que certains auteurs font venir de Normandie en Dauphiné, puis en Provence, où elle fut maintenue, le 19 janvier 1669. D'après Guy Allard, Hugues Mantin, gentilhomme du diocèse de Grenoble compris dans un rôle d'arrière ban, en 1524, fut père d'Etienne, seigneur de Montbonnot et gouverneur de Grenoble, en 1575. Il eut pour fils, Théode de Mantin, qui se signala au siège de la Rochelle et fut nommé vice-amiral des mers du Levant. Son fils aîné, Gaspard, épousa Catherine de Nicolaï de Méas, baronne d'Allier et de Montbrun, de la ville d'Avignon, dont il eut, Etienne, ayeul de Jean Baptiste, dit le marquis de Martin de Crochans, marié à N. Palerne, trésorier de la chambre apostolique, séant à Avignon. Etienne, seigneur de Monbonnaud, avait épousé, le 5 octobre 1557: 1° Claire de Glandevez; 2° le 12 janvier 1570, Magdeleine de Brancas-Céreste, dont: Gaspard de Mantin, qui épousa, le 7 juillet 1614, Catherine de Nicolaï, dont: Etienne, seigneur d'Allier et Montbrun, coseigneur de Montdragon, en Provence, y demeurant, épousa, le 9 mars 1655, Marie Faure. En 1655, noble Gaspard, est qualifié seigneur d'Allier et de Montbrun. Le 18 avril 1656, les habitants de Montbrun, passent procuration devant le même notaire, au sujet de la banalité du moulin, appartenant à M. Etienne, seigneur, baron d'Allier et Montbrun. Le 28 février 1659, David Blachier, du lieu de Crozier, paroisse de Saint-Geniès, mandement de Montbrun, est donataire de messire Etienne, baron de Montbrun et d'Allier, seigneur de Rocheguide et de la ville de Mondragon, en partie et autres places. Il était père de Gaspard, dont nous donnons le mariage: Le 5 décembre 1655, noble et illustre seigneur, messire Gaspard Mantin de Cavallion, chevalier, baron d'Allier et de Montbrun, seigneur de la Roche Saint-Secret et de Montdragon, fils à feu, noble et illustre seigneur, messire Etienne, chevalier, seigneur et baron des dusdits lieux, et de noble et illustre dame, Marie du Faure de Boulogne, dame de Roche Saint-Secret, quand ledit seigneur, de Mantin, vivait, résidant à Montdragon, épouse, noble damoiselle Louise, fille de noble et illustre seigneur, messire Louis-Henry de Guyon, seigneur de ...
