Família italiana que veio de Florença na pessoa de Bartolomeu M., no reinado de D. João II, porém, este sòmente se fixou em Portugal no tempo de D. Manuel I. Tratava-se nobremente, parece que serviu na Índia e viveu em Almada, onde teve as quintas da Lagoa Alfonsina e Vale da Torre, vinte e cinco vinhas, quatro olivais, muitas terraa e outras propriedades, tanto no termo daquela vila como em Lisboa. O Rei D. Manuel lhe deu o foro de fidalgo. Morreu em Lisboa em Outubro de 1527 e foi sepultado no mosteiro de S. Domingos, na capela do Santo Cristo, onde comprou jazigo perpétuo para si e seus descendentes. Por sua morte fez-se inventário dos bens no juízo dos órfãos de Almada, sendo escivão de Almada Bartolomeu Dias e juiz António Fernandes Moreira.
