Scrive il Soriani nel supp. Stor. sull'origne e progresso ela città di Lugo (Lugo Melandri 1834 pag. 21) che allorquando i Faentini condotti contro i Lughesi da Zelamasio, detto il grande cremonese, loro pretore, assediarono Lugo con Ranieri, conte di Cuneo, fu affidato a Guarisio, e a due altri maggiorenti della terra, l'incarico di parlamentare col nemico e riuscirono a stringere un utile accordo. Lo stesso Guarisio nel 1299, giurava fedeltà per la sua terra all'Arcivescovo di Ravenna. Nel secolo seguente Giovanni, di Filippo Margotti, massaro e capo della Comunità Lughese, con altri consiglieri presentava il 27 settembre 1352 l'atto della cessione di quella terra che Giovanni Visconti faceva all'Arcivescovo di Ravenna.
