Tuvieron a Francisco María Marín y San Martín, natural de Palma de Mallorca y Caballero de la orden de Carlod III, desde el 27 de noviembre del 1833 y por Real despacho del 5 de noviembre de 1863, se le concedió el título de marqués de la Frontera. En 1890 le sucedió Francisco Marín y Bertrán de Lis, marqués de la Frontera y esposo de doña Teresa de Barranco. Este apellido se extendió por toda la Península y varias ramas pasaron a América, donde se establecieron, así como a Canarias. Don Tomás Marín y Cubas, nació en la ciudad de Telde (Las Palmas), el 29 de noviembre de 1643. Estudió Medicina en Salamanca y luego vino a establecerse a Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Era muy aficionado a las antigüedades canarias, y llegó a reunir gran número de manuscritos relativos a la historia del país. Fruto de estos estudios fue una "Historia de las siete islas de Canarias, origen y descubrimiento y conquista, 1694".
