Assai antico ed illustre casato veneziano, detto Martinengo Delle Palle o Martinengo Dalle Palle, il cui capostipite vuolsi sia quel Leonardo II (* 1440 ca - 1484), condottiero e figlio postumo secondogenito di quel Leonardo I, abbiatico di Prevosto, esponente della nobile famiglia Martinengo da Barco. Il predicato "Dalle Palle" o "Delle Palle" fu, infatti, dato a questo ramo dalla ubicazione del palazzo costruito sul "Campo" dove prima si faceva il gioco della palla.
