Nobility crown Martino ValpergaSulla comunanza di origine di questa famiglia coi S. Martino fu avanzato qualche dubbio per non esserne noto l'attacco. L'Angius (Fam. Nob. della Monarchia di Savoia, I, 451), ci dà il nesso genealogico, ma non lo documenta. Assunsero nel secolo XV la qualificazione di conti di San Martino, usandone l'arma. Giovanni, probabile figlio di un Ardizzone, è lo stipite noto. Ebbe Giovanni per il fratello Bonifacio, che fu vescovo di Ivrea nel 1399, dignità a cui rinunziò nel 1405. Giulio Cesare Bonaventura fu investito il 31 aprile 1742 col titolo comitale. Sposò questi (1758) Maria Benedetta col conte Francesco Amedeo Valperga di Maglione, onde l'eredità di questo nome, che primo assunse il primogenito suo, Ottavio Francesco Andrea (n.
