Nobility crown MedrandaApellido de origen navarro, derivado del de Medrano. La familia M. de Tenerife desciende del Capitán Don Valentín Pérez de M., natural de la villa de Valdemoro, Arzobispado de Toledo, que se estableció en Icod y de Doña Clara Fernández de León y Mirabal, su mujer, con quien contrajo matrimonio el 9 de noviembre de 1664, en la Parroquia de Icod. Su hijo, Don Valentín José Pérez de M. y León, fue Capitán de Infantería española de las Milicias de Tenerife, habiéndose bautizado en Icod el 18 de septiembre de 1671 y contrajo matrimonio con Doña Elvira Ana de la Guardia Rojas y León, su prima; de este enlace nació también el Capitán Don José Lucas Valentín de M, que se bautizó en Icod el 27 de octubre de 1697 y se casó el Puerto de la Cruz el 10 de febrero de 1737, con Doña Antonia Agustina del Villar Tello y Caraveo. De dicho matrimonio fue hijo Don José Antonio de M. Caraveo Rojas y Tello, Coronel de los Reales Ejércitos en el Real Cuerpo de Infantería por Despacho de 25 de octubre de 1811, Gobernador de las Armas del Puerto de La Orotava en 30 de abril de 1789 y Alcaide de su castillo como Caballero Hijodalgo en 3 de junio de 1773. Se bautizó en la iglesia parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia el 27 de marzo de 1742, casando con Doña Ana María del Pilar de Orea y Machado, de cuyo enlace nació Doña Juana Evangelista Josefa de M. y Orea, que entroncó con la línea menor de la Casa de Benítez de Lugo Alzola. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia M., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento cruz es la primera figura utilizada en heráldica y su significado es la relación de sus miembros con la fé y la expansión del cristianismo.
