Giovanni Giacomo Mellastro, nato in San Germano, figlio di Tommaso, fu console di San Germano, governatore in Spagna, in Piemonte (1601) guarda-gioie e guarda-dame delle Infanti (1616). Giovanni Tommaso Mellastro (n. Torino, batt. 9 aprile 1593), suo figlio, ebbe il grado di capitano. Ebbe costui numerosa prole. Primogenito fu Pietro Filiberto (deceduto 20 aprile 1788), sotto-brigadiere nelle guardie del corpo (1694), che consegnò coi fratelli l'arma il 4 agosto 1687. Da lui nacque Giuseppe Amedeo (n. Torino, 9 marzo 1694, deceduto ivi, 17 novembre 1743), segretario di Guerra (1731), che fu padre di Giuseppe Giacinto controllore generale del Gran Magistero Mauriziano. Fu suo figlio Giuseppe Maria (n. Torino, 7 luglio 1865), che fu dottore di leggi, segretario alla segreteria di Stato (1820), segretario direttore delle prove del Gran Magistero Mauriziano (1828), primo ufficiale onorario (1844), e consigliere onorario (1854).
