Nobility crown MercureLes Mercure, venus de l'Embrunois, se substituèrent aux Rochessauve du Vivarais, par suite du mariage de Pierre Mercure, avec Marguerite de Sabatier, fille de Paul Sabatier, héritier de Rostaing de Rochessauve, dernier du nom. Les Mercure étaient protestants, mais quelques-uns abjurèrent après la révocation de l'édit de Nantes. Le 16 décembre 1686, noble François, sieur de Rochessauve et sieur François de Bénéfice de La Beaume, de Rochessauve, sont dits rentiers de Monseigneur de Ventadour. Noble François, sieur de Rochessauve, fils de feu Pierre et de demoiselle Marguerite de Sabatier, fut déchargé des pousuites contre les usurpateurs des titres de noblesse, le 27 novembre 1697. Son père avait été maintenu, par M. de Bezons, le 24 décembre 1698. Le 3 juillet 1699, demoiselle Jeanne Mercure, veuve de sieur Clary Boissière-Rabaniol, fit son testament dans lequel elle nomme demoiselle Marie Boissière, sa fille, femme du sieur reyné Combier, et son fils, sieur Simon-Pierre Boissière-Rabaniol. Le dernier des Mercure n'émigra pas, l'auteur des "Guerres civiles du Vivarais" le cite comme ayant fait partie des conjurés qui tentèrent, en 1792, de résister à la tyrannie de la convention et désigne le château de Rochessauve comme point de réunion pour les conférences des factieux. Jean-François Mercure de Rochessauve, ancien capitaine au régiment de Brie, prit une part active à l'assemblée de la noblesse de Villeneuve de Berg. Il se maria dans un âge avancé, le 13 novembre 1780, avec Jeanne-Elisabeth d'Audemard, fille de noble Jean et d'Elisabeth-Olympe de Bénéfice de Tataillon. Il n'eut pas d'enfant et mourut après 1792, très agé, après avoir cédé à M. de Barrès du Molard, par vente privée, tout ses biens et le château de Rochessauve. ...
