Este apellido se extendió bastante por España, pues hallamos casas en Villagarcía (Pontevedra); en Quintanilla del Monte, del partido de Villalpando (Zamora), y en el caserío de Ureña, del Ayuntamiento de Daimiel (Ciudad Real). De la casa de Villagarcía procedió Juan M., esposo de doña Catalina de la Granja y ambos padres de Mateo M. y de la Granja, que sigue, y Pedro M. y de la Granja, marido de doña Contanza de Abastas, a la que hizo madre de Juan M. y Abastas, vecino de Quintanilla del Monte, donde fundó nueva casa. Obtuvo ejecutoria de hidalguía en la Real Chancillería de Valladolid el 26 de Enero de 1537. Mateo M. y de la Granja casó doña María Díez de Represa y procrearon a Pedro M. y Díez, vecino de Villagarcía, que el 30 de Noviembre de 1541 ganó ejecutoria de hidalguía en la Chancillería de Valladolid. Contrajo matrimonio con doñ aCatalina de REpresa, naciendo de esa unión Mateo M. y Represa, que celebró su enlace con doña María Cortés, en la que tuvo a Alonso M. y Cortés, y Pedro M. Cortés, que en 1601 presentaron la ejecutoria ganada por su antepasado. De la casa del caserío manchego de Ureña descendió Blas Sobrino y M., que fué Obispo de Cartagena de Indias en 1777; de Quito, de 1777 a 1789; de Santiago de Chile de 1790 a 1794; y de Trujillo, de 1795 a 1796, año en que falleció. ...
