Noblesse d'ancienne chevalerie, dans le Périgord, dont le premier sujet, ajoute la Chenaye-Desbois, est Pierre, chevalier, vivant en 1220. Un gentilhomme de cette famille, appelé égalemant Pierre, écuyer, capitaine de 100 hommes d'armes, par commission du roi du 1er octobre 1626, fut chargé par le duc d'Epernon, lieutenant-général et gouverneur de Guienne, de s'opposer aux entreprises des croquants qui, répandus dans le Sarladais au nombre de 8,000, pillaient les châteaux qui se trouvaient sur leur passage. Le capitaine Buffarot, chef de ces révoltés, tisserand de Monpazier, fut tué par ledit Molinier. Plus tard, est-il dit dans des notes de M. O. Larguerie (de Monpazier), un Christophe fut tué en duel par un jeune plébéien de cette ville. Cette noble maison a donné une longue série de vaillants officiers, dont six au moins sont morts au champ d'honneur. Je citerai entre autres deux lieutenants-colonels, l'un tué à la tête d'une compagnie de grenadiers, et l'autre, son fils, tué au siège de Rocroi. Parmi les votants pour les députés de la noblesse aux États-Généraux de 1789, on voit Marie Gaspard Molinier de Lacan, chevalier, seigneur de Beroy et Campadou, chevalier de l'Ordre royal et militaire de Saint-Louis. ...
