Nobility crown MoncadaAntigua e ilustre familia, cuyo origen es caso legendario. Sus caballeros dieron varonía a la casa los vizcondes de Bearne y después se unieron por sucesivos matrimonios a la de Foix. Cuentan de Arnaldo o Arnulfo Mont-Cathaló, a quien el emperador Ludovico Pío en feudo la tierra de M. Gozó de la dignidad de dapifer y falleció en 798. Tuvo dos hijos: Othón, que sigue, y Armengol, que poseyó el Estado de Urgell y otros en Cataluña. De este segundo hijo pretende deducir el arzobispo Marca la casa de M. y sus ramas, y Luis de Salazar y Castro la de Peralada y otras, en Cataluña. Guillén Ramón de Montcada, dapifer o gran senescal de Cataluña, que celebró su enlace con doña Beatriz de M. (hija de Guillermo de Montcada, nieta paterna de Ramón Guillermo de Montcada, cuarto señor de la baronía de Montcada; bisnieta paterna de Guillermo de M., señor de la baronia de Montcada, y tercera nieta paterna di Siniofredo, que fue vizconde, según el marqués de Mondéjar y Salazar y Castro). De dichos esposos procedió toda la casa de Montcada Murió Guillermo Ramón de M., en 1150, dejando este hijo: Guillermo Ramón de M., dapiser o gran senescal de Cataluña, y señor de Vic, Tortosa, Peñíscola, Mallorca, Menorca y otros estados. Casó con Mata, vizcondesa de Bearne, señora de este estado y último vástago de su línea. Juan de Montcada y Tolfa, heredó la casa de M. y fue primer conde de Aytona, por merced del emperador Carlos V, fechada el 12 de septiembre de 1536; barón de Serós, Mequinenza y Chiva. Otra casa muy antigua. En Canarias se inicia este apellido con Don Pascual Benito Belvís de M. y Mendoza, Marqués de Mondéjar, Bélgida, Vallehermoso, Agrópoli, Benavites y Villamor, Conde de Tendilla, Villardompardo, Sallent, y Villamonte, Grande de España de primera clase, Adelantado Mayor de Nueva Galicia, Alférez Mayor y Veinticuatro de Jaén, Señor de Grandes Estados, Gran Cruz de Carlos III y Gentilhombre de Cámara de Su Majestad el Rey con ejercicio, de la Insigne Orden del Toisón de Oro (23 de abril de ...
