Nobility crown MonroyApellido de origen gallego, aunque sus armas se han encontrado en un entierro antiquísimo de Pola de Siero, a pocos kilómetros de Oviedo, camino de Covadonga, donde se halla la cueva en que se ocultó Don Pelayo, con mil hombres. Una rama pasó a la conquista de Extremadura. Fernando Pérez, fue copero mayor de la villa de M., de la que tomó su apellido. Dos ramas pasaron a Portugal. En un manuscrito del Monasterio de Guadalupe (Cáceres, donde se habla del origen y blasones de los Monroyes, se reproducen unas coplas raimundianas, que dicen: "Pérez de M. nombrado, Criado del Rey de Castilla, merecedor de su silla, de su padre insigniado. Castillo propio a él dado, Veros por verdad mostrar, ser su hijo y su solar Mon Roy en Francia nombrado ¿Véis dos castillos dorados sobre sangre varonil con dos veros cuarteados azules y plateados del nombre francés Vigil? El ser de M. loable el Rey Pelayo lo hable, al cual hizo en pas y furias estas armas los de Asturias tengan por seña fiable. Caballeros de este linaje probaron su nobleza en las Ordenes de Santiago, Calatrava y Alcántara. Don Francisco de M. fue creado Conde de la Deleitosa en 1529; Don Francisco de Trejo M., caballero de Calatrava, Marqués de la Rosa en 1627, y Don Fernando de M. Guzmán y Zúñiga, caballero de Alcántara, Marqués de M. en 1643. ...
