Apellido muy extendido por Cataluña, pues tuvo casas solares en las ciudades de Barcelona, Tarragona, Tortosa, Gerona, Lérida y Urgel, y en la villa de Torregrosa del partido judicial de Lérida. Pasó a Aragón, fundando nueva casa en la villa de Fábara, del partido judicial de Caspe (Zaragoza). De la ciudad de Barcelona fué Ana de M., que contrajo matrimonio con Pedro de Aragall, caballero que se halló en las Cortes de Monzón, y fueron padres de Luis de Aragall y M., que casó con doña Jerónima Cazador, a la que hizo madre de Francisca de Aragall y Cazador, fallecida en Barcelona el 18 de Diciembre de 1619. En 1580 ingresó como Señora en la Orden de San Juan. Los M. establecidos en Fábara poseyeron el Señorío de esta villa y eran originarios de la ciudad de Lérida. De ellos fué Gaspar de M. y de Ariño, natural de Lérida y Señor de Fábara, que se unió en matrimonio con doña Ana Albanell, natural de Barcelona, naciendo de este enlace Francisco de M. y Albanell, natural y Señor de Fábara, que celebró su enlace con doña Angela Sibil y Curto, natural de Tortosa (hija de Monserrate Sibil de Cañizar, natural de Tortosa y Señor de Pauls, y de doña Isabel Ana Curto, de igual naturaleza). Procrearon a Luis Garáu de M. y Sibil, natural de Tortosa, Señor de Fábara y Caballero de la Orden de Calatrava, en la que ingresó en 1618; y Francisco Ramón de M. Sibil, natural de Beceite (Teruel) y Caballero de la Orden de Santiago desde el 13 de Octubre de 1625. ...
