Nobility crown MontaguAntique chevalerie que l'on trouve possessionnée en Vivarais avant 1280. Établie en Velay où elle a été maintenue le 12 septembre 1668, sur preuves remontant à Raymond , lequel testa le 5 février 1450 et fut l'aïeul de Josué, seigneur de St-Marcel-d'Ardèche, etc., lieutenant des gardes du roi, marié le 2 mai 1602 à Gasparde de Beaune, soeur et héritière de Christophe, lieutenant général du roi en Auvergne. Il acheta le 27 mai 1621, la baronnie de Bouzols en Velay avec toutes ses dépendances. Son fils Joachim, par acte du 5 septembre 1659, fut institué héritièr de Christophe vicomte de Beaune, à la charge par lui de porter le nom et les armes de Beaune, ce qui fut observé. Sa posterité, par suite d'alliance avec les de Montboissier-Canillac, acquit de grandes possessions en Auvergne et résidait au château de Plauzat en 1789. Beaux services militaires. Plusieurs chevaliers et commandeurs de l'ordre de Malte. Guérin, grand maréchal de l'ordre de St-Jean de Jérusalem, élu grand maître en 1208, se signala à la prise de Damiette. Ce personnage a été attribue à l'illustre maison de Montaigu-le-Blanc, par la plupart des historiens d'Auvergne peu renseignés sur l'ancienneté des seigneurs de Montagu en Haut-Vivarais et Velay. Ils ont d'ailleurs tourné la difficulté, en présentant les Montagu-Bouzols comme une branche des Montaigu-le-Blanc. Mais on trouve dans les temps les plus reculés des seigneurs de Montagu paroisse de St-Sauveur, qui paraissent être autonomes. De plus, le sceau du grand maître de Malte: de gueules, à une tour d'or est conforme aux armes de Montagu-Bouzouls et non à celles des Montaigu-le-Blanc. ...
