Aseguran los tratadistas que este linaje procede de Francia, siendo en progenitor de los M. que pasaron a España Reinaldos de M., cuyo nieto fué Carlos de M., padre de Alonso de M., que casó en Madrid con una señora de linaje Castilla.
Los M. se extendieron mucho por España. Una de sus casas radicó en la villa de Oquendo, del partido judicial de Amurrio (Álava), y de ella fue Antonio de M., natural de Oquendo, que casó con doña Casilda de Ligorria y que a su vez fueron padres de Juan de M. y Ligorria, bautizado en Oquendo el 6 de Marzo de 1636. Tuvieron descendencia. Hubo otra casa en Murcia y de ella procedió Esteban de M. que descendía de Alemán de M., a quien heredó en Rey don Alfonso X "el Sabio" el la mencionada ciudad. Dicho Esteban de M. fué empadronado como hijodalgo en la ciudad de Murcia, según costa en el tastimonio dado en 25 de Enero de 1600 por Juan González de Sepúlveda, escribano de aquel ayuntamiento. También dejó descendencia.
Finalmente los M. pasaron también a Chile, fundando nueva casa en la ciudad de Santiago, a la que pertenecía doña Francisca Ricarda de M.
Diego de M., nacido en Méjico, pasó también a Chile como soldado. En 1612 ingresó en la Compañía de Jesús. ...
