Dice el Rey de Armas de Felipe IV, don Juan de Mendoza, en certificación dada el 16 de Octubre de 1656, que este apellido de M. es de los más claros e insignes de Aragón. Pasó a la isla de Menorca, y según consta en un Real despacho, de 1865, y afirma el tratadista Ramis, el progenitor de esta rama menorquina fué Martín M., Infanzón de Aragón y Señor del nobilísimo solar de la villa de Serué, del partido judicial de Jaca (Huesca), que dejó este hijo Miguel M., que en 1554 era Clavario de la ciudad de Mahón, en la mencionada isla de Menorca. Contrajo matrimonio con doña Francisca Pou, natural de Menorca, y fueron padres de Juan M. Pou, que sigue, y Francisco M. Pou, que en unión de su hermano luchó contra los infieles, armando galeones para perseguirlos. Este Francisco, en 1586, al regresar de una de esas excursiones guerreras, trajo consigo siete cabezas de moros. Juan M. Pou celebró su enlace con doña Clara Olives, naciendo de esta unión Rafael M. y Olives, que ocupó todos los cargos públicos de Mahón, por el estamento de caballeros. Casó con doña Catalina Pons, y procrearon a Juan M. y Pons, que obtuvo Real ejecutoria de hidalguía en la audiencia de Zaragoza el 25 de Octubre de 1656. En 1674 fué nombrado Capitán de trescientos hombres, que entraron de refuerzo en el Castillo de San Felipe de Mahón. Se unió en matrimonio con doña Margarita Segui y Roy, y de este enlace fué hijo Rafael M. y Segui, Sargento Mayor y esposo de doña Esperanza Mercadel. ...
