Nobility crown MontaniacNoblesse du Puy qui dérogea au XIVème siècle par des charges de judicature, tout en conservant néanmoins un rang important dans la cité. On trouve son nom diversement écrit Montagnac, Montaniac ou Montanhac. Bertrand est témoin l'an 1160 et 1163, de deux donations faites à l'hôpital de St-Jean-la-Chavalerie du Puy. Durand Montainhac assiste le 21 septembre 1175, à une vente consentie sur le territoire d'Aiguilhe au commandeur de St-Jean du Puy. De concert avec sa femme Jourdaine et ses fils Guillaume et Jacques Montainhac, le même Durand vend en 1185, au commandeur Jean de Chalencon, un champ sis à Tireboeuf près Brives-Charensac; Jourdain, son descendant, est qualifié damoiseau le 21 février 1344. Après eux on relève: Jobert, abbé de Doue (1443-1445); Reymond, notaire apostolique et royal du Puy (2 juin 1459); Balthazar Montagnac, chanoine de St-Vosy, chorier du chapitre de Notre-Dame (12 mars 1456); Reymond Montagnac, juge de la cour commune du Puy (1486); Jean et Claude, prêtres titulaires de deux vicairies de St-Vosy (1495); Guillaume, juge de la cour commune, neveu des précédents (15 juin 1509); Jean, son fils, juge de la même cour (1531). ...
