Dice Zurita que Arnaldo de M. pasó a la conquista de la isla de Mallorca, donde quedó establecido. Otro Arnaldo M. era de Consejo del rey don Jaime III de Mallorca en 1341. Antonio M. fué, en 1446, lugarteniente del gobernador del reino de Mallorca, y Guillermo M., gran canciller y virrey de Sicilia. Jaime M., Doctor en ambos Derechos, fué jurado de la ciudad y reino de Mallorca en 1466 y 1485, por el estamento de ciudadanos, y dejó este hijo Nicolás de M., uno de los caballeros a quienes en 1512 se les encomendó la defensa de la isla por temerse una invasión de los turcos. Procreó estos dos hijos, habidos en su mujer, doña Beatriz Berard: el Doctor Nicolás M. y Berard, gran Jurisconsulto que siguió la carrera sacerdotal y fué Párroco de Manacor y Canónigo de la Catedral de Palma. En 1541 se le nombró Inquisidor del reino, y Jaime M. y Berard, Doctor en ambos Derechos, nacido en Manacor el 6 de Octubre de 1493. En esa villa se habían refugiado sus padres con motivo de una epidemia. Fué célebre humanista, militar valiente y jurisconsulto famoso. En 1523 y 1531 se le nombró Jurado por la clase de ciudadanos, y en 1545 por la de Caballeros. El Emperador Carlos V le hizo Regente de Cerdeña y poco después le dió igual destino en Valencia. Escribió una obra defendiendo la tesis de que los sacerdotes pueden hacer armas contra el enemigo, mientras sea con la intención de defender a la patria.
