En la ciudad de Fuenterrabía (Guipúzcoa). El Bachiller Amador Gómez de M., vecino de San Sebastián en 1530, poseía casas principales de sillería, torre, huerta, capilla y enterramiento, mas el patronato de la ermita de Nuestra Señora de Hua. Su casa estaba en la calle de la Trnidad, cerca de la del Licenciado Ercilla. Casó con doña Domenja de Gamboa, a la que hizo madre de Miguel Martínez M., Pedro Sáez M., Lorenzo M., sacerdote, y María Gómez M., mujer del Contador Martín de Irigoyen. Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la repoblación de Castilla del siglo XII, siendo una de las 100 familias que se les otorgó la zona de Segovia. Todo ello parece coincidir con la memoria familiar de algunos de los miembros de la rama de la familia Montaot. Son sus armas: Cuartelado: primero y cuarto, fajados de cuatro piezas, y segundo y tercero, una cruz ancorada. Ignoramos los esmaltes. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia M., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento faja quiere decir que pertenecieron a órdenes militares de caballería.
