Nobility crown MonteroThe noble name Montero is very common in Spain and America. It had different locations in Lerana, from the place Saro and judicial place of Villacarriedo (Santander); in Lantueno, from the Committe of Santiurde and judicial place of Reinosa, in the same province; in the village of Berbinaza, in the judicial place of Tafalla (Navarra); in the Olba, judicial place of Mora de Rubielos (Teruel); in the city of Reina (Toledo); in the Granada, with linage in Chile, and in the villages of Palma del Río, judicial place of Posadas (Córdoba), and from Oliva de Mérida (Badajoz). In the year 1684, Juan Miguel Montero, neighbor to the village of Berbizana, presented himself to the Real Audience of Pamplona and informed them that he and his ancestors were in noble possesion as owners of the house Montero. As we have indicated before, from the house of Montero, from the city of Granada, a linage traveled to Chile and established there. The linage Montero also was established in the regions of: the cordobean village of Oalma del Río, village of Oliva de Mérida. With the discovery of the New World, many were the men and women that traveled the Atlantic looking for a new horizon, and specifically the ones that used the last name Montero, extended their linage in América. Therefore, after our investigation in the Archivo General de Indias, we found that Antonio Montero, who is original from Toledo, son of Tomás Montero and Ana Gómez, with his wife, Catalina Carreño, and their children, María, Francisca, Isabel, y Ambrosio, traveled to New Spain (Nueva España), on June 26, 1578; and also Francisco Montero, from Sevilla, married, son of Francisco Montero y María de Salcedo, traveled to the New World, as a merchant, on February 3, 1594. ...
