Nobility crown MorantaEste apellido tuvo su primitivo origen en Cataluña. Desde muy antiguo pasó a Mallorca, fundando nueva casa en la villa de Benisalem, del partido judicial de Inca. En 1285, Arnaldo de M. juró sacramento y homenaje al rey don Alfonso III de Aragón, como disputado por l mencionada villa. Tomás M., en 1555, hizo un cuantioso donativo a la villa de Andraitx, para reparar los efectos del saqueo de los moros. Mateo M., en 10 de julio de 1569, obtuvo, por sus servicos, privilegio perpetuo de ciudadano. Felipe M. fue doctor en ambos Derechos y oidor del supremo tribunal de justicia de Mallorca. En su casa y huerto fundó, en 1647, el colegio de jesuitas de San Martín, que después fue fábrica de vidrio. Pedro M. servía como capitán en 1641 en la guerra de Cataluña; Tomas M. fue jurado en 1545 y 1555; otro Tomás M., en 1657, y Jaime M., en 1701 y 1706. A la casa de M., llamada del "Pontiró", sucedió la de Fuster, por Dureta, con gravamen de nombre y armas. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia M., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales. Los esmaltes del arma de los M. pregonan los siguientes valores: el Azur corresponde al símbolo del agua, de la continuidad de la vida, es un color de nobleza, belleza, castidad y fidelidad, además otras virtudes caracterizaban a la familia, tales como la abundancia económica, la perseverancia, la suerte, la fama y el afán de victoria. ...
