Nobility crown MorilhasTrès ancienne famille qui a adopté ses armoiries avant le XIIIème siècle. Les changements aux XIIIème et XIVème siècles furent fréquents. Les aînés de cette maison obligeaient leurs cadets à ajouter la brisure (c'est-à-dire un pièce ou meuble) aux armes pleines de l'auteur commun pour distinguer les divers rameaux sortis d'une même souche. En même temps que les armoiries se développaient, le nom de cette maison a commencé à être adopté par ses descendants, mais l'hérédité dans ce nom ne fut absolue qu'à la fin du XIIIème siècle. L'histoire de cette famille est peu connue et il ne reste pas beaucoup de renseignements sur son compte, par la raison que presque tous les titres publics et autres furent détruits par suite des guerres intestines qui désolaient la France et amenèrent des troupes de toutes les nations voisines; et plusieurs notaires n'ont, par cette raison, que les minutes de la première moitié du XVIIIème siècle. Comme il n'est pas possible d'établir une filiation suivie pour cette maison, on se trouve forcés de produire ici chacun de ses membres tel que nous les avons rencontrés en fouillant des titres où ils se trouvaient rappelés. Cette ancienne maison que plusieurs sources bibliographiques disent être d'origine noble, a fourni une foule de personnages illustres dans la carrière des armes. Parmi les personnages dignes de mémoire les plus célèbres de cette famille on cite: Guillaume, écuyer dans une montre de Jean du Juch en 1371; Henry, abbé de Landévennec, mort en 1442; Hervé abbé de Quimperlé, mort en 1453.
