Antichissima famiglia di Pontremoli, menzionata negli statuti di quella terra del 1284. Ebbe in patria molte ed importanti cariche, quale quella di luogotenente nel 1495, di sindaco nel 1513 e nel 1607, di decurione urbano nel 1695 e nel 1759, di gonfaloniere nel 1777; dette inoltre alla Chiesa un vescovo, Bartolommeo, ordinario della diocesi di Brugnato dal 1467 al 1479. Gli U. aggiunsero al proprio lo stemma Nocetti per concessione di don Bernardo, del dott. Carlo Nocetti, ultimo di sua famiglia, in data 15 gennaio 1779. Vennero ascritti alla nobiltà di Pontremoli con decreto del 14 luglio 1780. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di nobile di Pontremoli (mf.), in persona dei disc. da Eleonoro e Pietro, di Giulio, di Eleonoro. ...
