Nobility crown MuriasDice Villanueva en sus "Solares Nobles", que este linaje procede del lugar de Murias (cuyo nombre tomó), del Concejo de Navia y partido judicial de Luarca (Asturias). Uno de sus caballeros más antiguos es Alvar Sánchez de M., Señor de la noble casa de su apellido, que en unión de su hijo Álvarez de M., sirvió a los Reyes don Fernando III el Santo y don Alfonso X el Sabio. Se hallaron en las conquistas de Sevilla y de Jerez de la Frontera. Juan Fernández de M. sirvió al Rey don Alfonso XI, y Domingo García de M. al Rey don Juan II de Castilla en la batalla de la Vega de Granada el 27 de Julio de 1431, contra Moamar II, Rey de Granada. Santiago Álvarez de M. fué uno de los seiscientos hombres que, capitaneados por el Obispo de Avila, don Alvaro de Fonseca, tomaron por asalto en 1477, la ciudad de Toro, que estaba por el Rey don Alonso V de Portugal. Los Reyes Católicos para premiar sus servicios le armaron Caballero. Asistió a la toma de Granada. En una certificación dada en Madrid por el Rey de Armas, don Juan Alfonso de Guerra y Sandoval, se contiene la siguiente genealogía: Diego Álvarez de M., que sirvió a los Reyes don Juan II y don Enrique IV, tuvo, entre otros hijos, a Diego Álvarez de M., que casó con doña María Álvarez de Tormaleo, y fueron padres de Diego Alonso de M. y Tormaleo, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Belasquida Pérez de Otibias, de la noble Casa de Otibias, muy conocida en Asturias, naciendo de esta unión Arias Pérez de M. y Otibias. ...
