Procede este apellido de una antigua y noble familia asturiana. Su primitivo solar estuvo situado en el Monte Naranco, junto a Oviedo, de donde posiblemente tomara el nombre, convirtiéndolo luego en N. Desde los tiempos del Rey Don Fernando III el Santo y de la conquista de Sevilla a la que pasaron desde Asturias, no quedó en an quel Principado ninguno de este linaje hasta que en 1546, regresó a su tierra Suer N., que se estableció en la ciudad de Oviedo. Ramas de este apellido fundaron nuevas Casas en los Concejos de Salas, Navia y Tineo. Otra tuvo solar en Laredo, provincia de Santander. También en la villa de Bienvenida, provincia de Badajoz, se estableció otra rama del apellido N., que luego pasó a la ciudad de Medellín en Colombia. Don José N. y Cabrera, nació en la ciudad de Telde el 7 de abril de 1836. Era hijo de Don Adrián N. y Cubas de Doña Antonia Cabrera de Quintana. Contrajo matrimonio en dicha ciudad, el 15 de febrero de 1863, con Doña Adela Martínez de Escobar y Luján, que había nacido en Las Palmas el 10 de octubre de 1838. Era hija de Don Bartolomé Martínez de Escobar y Domínguez y de Doña Francisca de Luján y Barrera. Sus hijos fueron entre otros: Don Adrián, Don Bartolomé, Doña Emiliana, Doña Serafina y Don Teofilo N. y Martínez de Escobar. Este apellido se halla bastante extendido en Gran Canaria y es el que ostentaba en segundo lugar el Dr. Chil, fundador de "El Museo Canario". ...
