Linaje catalán, originario del campo de Tarragona, de donde pasó a otras partes de Cataluña, a Mallorca a Valencia. En el primer tercio del siglo XIV ya radicaban los N. en Mallorca principalmente en las villas de Artá y de Porreras, del partido judicial de Manacor, constituyendo una distinguida familia. Andrés N. figuró entre los representantes de la ciudad de Mallorca que prestaron sacramento y homenaje al rey don Pedro IV de Aragón en 1343. Mateo N., de Porreras ayudó al también monarca aragonés, don Juan II, en las guerras contra el príncipe de Viana, y dicho rey le concedió privilegio de caballero, con franqueza de derechos municipales, el 14 de mayo de 1465. Entre los capitanes que sirvieron a Felipe IV en las guerras de Cataluña, se destacó Antonio N. Bernardo N. fué Capitán a guerra de la villa de Porreras. Murió en 1711. José N., también Capitán, Caballero de la Orden de San Fernando y condecorado varias veces por acciones de guerra, desempeñó a mediados del pasado siglo el cargo de Gobernador el Castillo de San Carlos, dependiente de la Capitanía General de Mallorca. Y Juan N. Bennasser era por los mismos años representante de la casa de su familia del lugar de Son Severa, después villa, que dependía de la de Artá. Doña Elena N. Bardaxi, nacida en 1563 y fallecida en 1604, fué Señora del Hábito de San Juan en el Gran Priorato de Cataluña. De los N. que pasaron al reino de Valencia descendió José N., natural de Castellón de la Plana. ...
