La famiglia è oriunda da Bergamo donde venne a Roma nel XVII secolo. Dette i natali al dotto ed eminente gesuita padre Giulio, morto nel 1678. Andrea, nato nel 1710, divenne segretario dei Brevi e fu fatto cardinale nel 1766 d Clemente XIII. A lui si deve la grandezza della famiglia, aggregata alla nobiltà romana nel 1746 in persona di Stasino che nel 1752 fu Conservatore di Roma. La famiglia venne poi compresa fra i nobili coscritti. Il conte Baldassarre nel 18750 fu Gonfaloniere di Velletri e venne ascritto a quel patriziato insieme alla sua famiglia. Il titolo di conte, venne concesso ad Antonio nel 1723. La Consulta Araldica nel 1901 ascrisse i fra alla famiglia patrizi coscritti romani. Il conte Giuseppe, erede dell'ultimo duca D.
