Antiguo y noble linaje de Cataluña. Ya en el siglo XIII radicaba en la ciudad de Gerona. Pasó a Mallorca, donde alcanzó gran nombradía y distinción. Muchos de sus caballeros florecieron en las armas, en las letras y en las ciencias y desempañaron cargos preeminentes. El primero de esta familia que se avecindó en Mallorca fue Pedro N., natural de Gerona, según consta en el Archivio de Cartas Reales en una escritura de 1277. Arnaldo N. fue jurado de la ciudad y reino de Mallorca en 1319 y 1323; Pedro N., en 1363, y otro Arnaldo N., en 1388. En 1410 obtuvo la dignidad política de conseller de Mallorca por el estamento de ciudadanos. Otro Pedro N. fue copero del rey y jurado por la clase de ciudadanos en 1425, 1429, 1432 y 1440. En 1437 se le nombró lugarteniente del gobernador de la isla. Mateo N. también fue jurado por la clase de ciudadanos en 1463, 1465 y 1476. Al frente de una compañía de mallorquines sirvió como capitán en las guerras de Cataluña contra el príncipe de Viana. En 1464 estuvo en el sitio de Lérida, y en 1485 en las guerras y conquistas de Granada. Blas N., jurado en 1518 y conseller en 1520, empleó toda su fortuna en 1518 para atender a graves necesidades de su patria. Hugo N., jurado en 1517 por el estamendo de ciudadanos, y conseller en 1518. El doctor Francisco N., canónigo de la catedral de Mallorca se distinguió como gran teólogo. Su sobrino Hugo N. fue insigne letrado, oidor del real consejo y síndico de Mallorca. ...
