Riconosciuta con Real Rescritto 25 ottobre 1834 nel titolo di marchese sul cognome, titolo concesso originariamente a Francesco Antonio Scassa, il 15 maggio 1772. Al suddetto primo concessionario, morto nel 1790, senza discendenti, successe il germano Giuseppe, presidente del Consiglio generale di Capitanata, ed a questi morto nel 1812, la sorella Raffaella, sposata a Pasquale, dai quali, Gaetano, morto nel 1823, padre di Pasquale, riconosciuto in detto titolo in data come sopra. Il titolo di marchese sul cognome venne riconosciuto ancora a Nicola il 24 ottobre 1857. Altro ramo. Originaria di Giovinazzo e di Manfredonia, fu aggregata alla nobiltà di Barletta, e dalla fine del XVII secolo non si hanno più notizie di questa famiglia. ...
