La filiation de celle-ci, encore représentée, remonte à Jacques, bourgeois de Paris, seigneur de Fontenelle, marié à Marie Locard, dont le fils Jean-Jacques, receveur des tailles, sétablit à Riom vers 1718 et acheta une charge de conseiller secrétaire du roi, maison et couronne de France (1730). Il fut le père de François-Nicolas, seigneur de Maupertuis, de la Gravière, receveur des tailles en l'élection de la même ville (1745), qui se fixa dans Chaliergues, par acquisition de la baronnie de Flaghac à Yves-Marie Desmarets, comte de Maillebois, le 19 juin 1765. D'une première union, le 15 septembre 1751, avec Madeleine Rollet de Lauriat, il laissa: Jean-Jacques, baron de Flaghac, capitaine de dragons (1776), chevalier de St-Louis, député à l'assemblée provinciale d'Auvergne (1787), qui obtint en 1811, le titre de baron de l'Empire avec institution de majorat sur la terre de Marands. Convoquée en 1789, à l'assemblée de la noblesse de Riom. Un trésorier du Marc d'or (1750); un mousquetaire noir, chevalier de St-Louis (1775); plusieurs officiers de cavalerie. Jean-Jacques-Louis-Symphorien, baron de Flaghac, d'abord secrétaire d'ambassade en Russie (1837), fut élu député de la Haute-Loire à l'assemblée nationale (1871). ...
