Famiglia, di chiara e provata nobiltà, domiciliata in Verona. Qualche lustro innanzi la caduta della Repubblica veneta, questa famiglia fu aggregata al Veneto Patriziato. Dal 1697, la medesima, è in possesso del titolo di Conte, conferitole dalla Repubblica, col feudo giurisdizionale di Custoza, nel territorio veronese. Nel 1791, inoltre, il conte Domenico, condottiere di gente d'armi, aggiunse altri beni al detto feudo, istituendo un maggiorasco con la marca di Comenda dell'illustre Ordine equestre Gerosolimitano. Questa istituzione riportò, nel 1792, l'approvazione del Senato Veneto e del supremo capo dell'Ordine predetto. Fu confermata nobile, con Sovrana Risoluzione 1 marzo 1820. In seguito alla compagna d'Italia napoleonica, nel 1797, i conti Nottolini, si videro costretti ad abbandonare le loro proprietà, fuggendo nella Repubblica di Lucca.
