Originaria di Aquileja, trapiantata nel 736 in Venezia, dove visse nobilmente e si estinse nell'881. Obelerio, tribuno, fu eletto doge di Venezia nell'804, e dopo poco tempo ottenne che il proprio fratello Beato fosse eletto dal popolo alla stessa dignità e dichiarato suo collega nel ducato. Nell'807 Obelerio ricevette la patente di spatario imperiale, ed il doge Beato si recò a Costantinopoli dove fu ricevuto onorevolmente dall'Imperatore Niceforo, il quale lo decorò del titolo d'ipato. Ambedue questi dogi ottennero dal popolo che Valentino loro terzo fratello fosse anch'egli creato doge. Ma il favore del popolo non fu per questi dogi di lunga durata, chè furono deposti dalla loro dignità ed esiliati dalla patria. Obelerio però ritornato nell'830 furtivamente in Venezia, soccorso dai Malamocchesi, s'impadronì e si fortificò nell'isola Vigilia che espugnata dal doge Giovanni allora imperante, e fatto prigioniero Obelerio, lo condannò alla decapitazione. ...
