Nobility crown OlanoTenemos por cierto que este apellido es alavés y originario del lugar de Olano (cuyo nombre tomara), perteneciente al Ayuntamiento de Cigoitia y partido judicial de Vitoria. Pasó a Guipúzcoa en tiempos antiguos, creando casas solares en Legazpia, del partido judicial de Vergara; en Abalcisqueta y Asteasu, villas del partido de Tolosa, y en esta última población. Ya en el siglo XV estaba muy extendido por los partidos judiciales de Vergara, Azpéitia y Tolosa. Vecino de Azcóitia era en el año de 1415 Juan Martínez O.; en 1456 el Bachiller Juan Martínez O. y su hijo Juan, y en 1484 Pedro O. Juan y Pedro de O. aparecen avecindados en Legazpia en 1483, y Ochoa de O. en Guetaria en 1456. Martín O. probó su hidalguía en Salinas de Lénis en 1744; el Capitán Juan Bautista O. y Diego Antonio O., en Villafranca de Oria, en 1767 y 1785, respectivamente; Antonio O. Otamendi, en Elduayen, en 1773, y José Antonio O. Otamendi, en Berrobi, en 1780. Pariente de los dos últimos citados, fué Baltasar de O. Otamendi, natural de Tolosa, esposo de doña Angela de Aguirre, natural de Azpéitia, de la que tuvo a Ignacio de O. Aguirre, natural de Urrestilla, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Margarita de Ocharán, natural de Azcóitia (hija de José de Ocharán, natural de Azcóitia, y de doña Úrsula Elorriaga, natural de Elosúa), naciendo de esa unión José Francisco de O., natural de Azcóitia, que casó con doña María Beatriz de Echavarría, natural de Rentería, hija de Luis de Echavarría. ...
