Coinciden algunos tratadistas en afirmar que este apellido es originario de Asturias. No están en lo cierto. Los O. son navarros y tuvieron su casa solar, llamada de Santecena, en el lugar de Olondriz (cuyo nombre tomaron) perteneciente al Ayuntamiento de Erro y partido judicial de Aoiz. Quizás por haber pasado a Asturias en tiempos antiguos alguna rama de O. y haber quedado allí radicada, dedujeron esos tratadistas que este linaje es asturiano; pero creemos que también carece de fundamento esa deducción, puesto que ninguna noticia aportan (ni la hemos encontrado), que compruebe la existencia de una rama asturiana de este apellido. La cuna de los O., repetimos, fué el citado lugar de Navarra del mismo nombre, y en documentos de la Nobleza Executoriada de aquel Reino está plenamente confirmado sus origen navarro.
