Descendiente directo de ese matrimonio era en mediados del citado siglo Pedro O. de Covarrubias, natural, vecino y Alcalde Mayor de Burgos y Señor de Amaya, Peones, Alvillos y Melgar, que casó con doña María de Villafañe, natural de Salamanca, y procrearon a Diego O. de Covarrubias, natural, vecino, Regidor y Alcalde Mayor de Burgos y Señor de Amaya, Peones y Melgar, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Juana Manrique, hija de Pedro Manrique de Lara, quinto del nombre, llamado el Fuerte, natural de Nájera (Rioja), segundo Conde de Treviño, que la tuvo (estando ya viudo de su esposo doña Guiomar de Castro) en doña Inés de Mendoza y Delgadillo, nacida también en la mencionada ciudad y doncella de mucha nobleza a la que el Duque consideró y etimó como si fuera mejor propia.
