Colibre, ciudad muy antigua y llena de interesantes recuerdos, una de las principales del antiguo condado de Rosellon, dió ilustre cuna a la opulenta familia de este nombre. Muy a principios del siglo XIII, Romeu O., poderoso y noble señor de feudos y estados, señalóse por su piedad en la fundacion y dote de casas religiosas, y en la de los pingües mayorazgos de Tader y Stadera. Tuvo por hijos a Pedro, que le sucedió en el primero y casó con Eduarda Vernet, siguiendo en Colibre la casa de su familia; y a Juan, que heredó el segundo, y contrajo matrimonio con Margarita Puig, señora no menos ilustre que rica. En el mayorazgo agnativo que fundó esta por su testamento, en mayo de 1240, ante Simon Roger, notario público de Perpiñan, impuso a sus descendientes, á su usanza de aquellos tiempos, el imprescindible gravámen de anteponerse á su verdadero apellido el de Puig, y de aquí proviene la diferencia que siempre se ha notado en los de O. y Puigdorfila, siendo indudablememte uno mismo. El hijo de Juan O. y de Margarita Puig, llamado Guillermo Puigdorfila de Colibre, fué secretario, consejero y gran privado del rey Don Jaime II de Mallorca, á cuya isla pasó y estableció en ella el ilustre solar de su linaje que se ha conservado hasta nuestros dias, usando por armas la flor de lis de los O. y el monte de los Puig. La línea de Pedro O., señor del estado y mayorazgo de Tader, y de Eduarda Vernet, su esposa, siguió en Colibre hasta principios del silgo XV. Otra casa muy antigua.
