Nobility crown OrtoláLinaje extendido por Cataluña y Mallorca. Antonio Hortolá, caballero militar de la Orden de San Juan, se unió en matrimonio con doña Margarita Burguet, señora del mismo hábito, y fueron padres de Juan Hortolá y Burguet, que casó con doña Clara Puigdorfila (hija de Antonio Puigdorfila, caballero de San Juan, y de doña Isabel San Juan), naciendo de esa unión Juan Bautista Hortolá y Puigdorfila, bautizado en Mallorca el 8 de enero de 1610, que en 1627 vistió también el hábito de San Juan. Guillermo O. fue jurado de Palma en 1485. En Cataluña tuvo casa solar este apellido en la ciudad de Barcelona. Son sus armas: Verado en ondas de plata y gules. Bordura de azur con ocho crucetas de plata. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia O., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento ondas es la característica de los nobles de la milicia marítima aunque también es representativo del comercio marítimo. Los esmaltes del arma de los O. pregonan los siguientes valores: la Plata corresponde al símbolo de la Luna, pureza, sinceridad, templanza, clemencia y amabilidad son las características espirituales de la familia, a las que hay que añadir otras como el afán de victoria y éxito y la elocuencia. ...
