Pelo casamento de S. Pedro o Cru, com D. Maria de P., se encontra estas famíia não só ligada à Casa Real espanhola mas a todas da Europa. Deu quatro mestres à Ordem de Calatrava e um à de Sant'Iago e teve durante muito tempo o cargo de adiantado-mor de Castela. Passaram os deste apelido várais vezes a Portugal, Bartolomeu Fernandes P. e seu irmão Francisco Fernandes Padilha, aquele escudeiro da casa de D. João II, dele tiveram cartas de brasão, respectivamente a 30 de Abril de 1530 e a 23 de Agosto de 1532, com as armas dos Padilhas do reino de Castela por descenderem da sua linhagem pela parte de sua mãe. Fernão Soeiro Fernandes P., cavaleiro espanhol, foi pai de Criastóvão Fernadnes P. e de Diogo Fernandes P., aquele cavaleiro da Orden de Sant'Iago que se recebeu com D. Ana de Miranda filha de Pedro de Miranda de quem teve Sebastião P., que casou com D. filipa Osório, filha de Belchior Osório, e de sua mulher Catarina Henriques de cujo matrimónio nasceu Luís P. de Miranda. Diogo Fernandes P, acima, referido, houve da sua mulher a Lázaro P., cavaleiro da Ordem de Cristo, que se casou com D. Maria Ribeiro Salazar, filha de Gaspar, Ribeiro de Arévalo, espanhol, e de sua mulher, Francisca de Cifuentes, de Castela. ...
