Riformò gli ordini del regno, allargò le libertà municipali, rispettò le costituzioni ed i privilegi dell'Isola; e dopo aver intrapreso varie guerre e trionfato, con fama di ottimo re e benemerito dei Siciliani, in Palermo cessò di vivere nel 1336 in età di 65 anni dopo 40 anni di glorioso regno che lasciò al figlio Pietro II. Nobile famiglia di catalogna, ove al dir di Mugnos fiorirono: un Pierluigi governatore di detta provincia sotto re Giacomo II; un Guerao governatore di Barcellona sotto re Pietro IV; un Guglielmo alfiere della milizia di Barcellona; un Bernardo governatore perpetuo dell'isola delli Gerbi 1313, il cui figlio Nicolò sembra essere stato il primo a passare in Sicilia, ottenuto avendo da re Federico II la castellania di Lentini 1320, ove fu anche capitano e giurato, rendendosi progenitore di molti distinti personaggi, che in varie città dell'isola si sparsero. ...
