Los tratadistas que hemos consultado entienden que los apellidos Palomar y Palomares son uno mismo y les asignan idénticas armas. Coinciden muchos en afirmar que proceden de Aragón. Algunos, sin embargo, dicen que son originarios de las Montañas de Burgos; otros lo hacen catalanes, con antiguo solar en Barcelona, y otros escriben que salieron de Andalucía y que allí se apellidaron en un principio P. por descender de la casa solar de ese linaje. Es más exacto que los P. son aragoneses y que de Aragón pasaron a otras regiones de España. Pedro Vitales afirma en su "Nobiliario de Aragón", que tuvieron su cuna en el lugar de Palomar (cuyo nombre tomaron por apellido), del Arzobispado de Zaragoza, y que figuraron entre los conquistadores de esa ciudad. Dicho autor se refiere a la hoy villa de Palomar de Arroyos, del partido judicial de Montalbán, en la provincia de Teruel, siendo lo más probable que del primitivo solar en el mencionado pueblo de Palomar, se derivase la casa de este apellido (de notoria antigüedad y de la que se tiene concreta noticia), radicada en la villa de Mosqueruela, del partido judicial de Mora de Rubielos en la misma provincia de Teruel, así como la rama que residió en Valencia. También se sabe que otra antigua casa del apellido de que tratamos es la que fué creada en el lugar de Angües, del partido judicial y provincia de Huesca. Una rama apellidada P. y originaria de Aragón, pasó al Perú y de ella fué el General Juan de P. Vega. ...
