Il primo di cui si abbia notizia di questa famiglia è un tal Calepino della villa di Carpena (1506) menzionato, dallo storico forlivese Marchesi, per aver giurato fedeltà alla Santa Sede a nome di una parte del contado forlivese. Hanno dato a Forlì dottori e giureconsulti di merito. Un Benedetto, di Gian Gualberto, oltre avere conseguito il titolo di cavaliere, ebbe il grado di capitano della Gendarmeria Pontificia. Battista e Giacomo appartennero in Forlì al Sacro numero dei Pacifici, l'uno nel 1541, l'altro nel 1543. Francesco, nato nel 1704, sposò Paola Turchi ed ebbe Gian Gualberto, dottore di leggi, morto celibe nel 1790, e Vincenzo, dottore di leggi, che nel 1775 sposò Maria Teresa Poletti, da cui: Francesco, nato nel 1780 che da Giulia Gnocchi ebbe Giovanni Gualberto, morto nel 1888.
