Nobility crown PeníchetEste linaje pertenece a un portugués originario de P., población del distrito de Leira en Portugal, a 72 kilómetros de Lisboa, situado en una pequeña península que termina en el Cabo Carvoeiro. Como sucede en muchos apellidos toma su origen del nombre del lugar de nacimiento, estableciéndose en Tenerife y dando nombre a un caserío conocido como de P.. Con el añadido de la "t" final será conocido en lo sucesivo, extendiéndose por las islas, en particular en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a donde pasó destinado un Licenciado en Derecho que ejerció en la Real Audiencia de la Capital, formando así un nuevo tronco de este linaje. Don José Antonio P. y Cárdenas, Escribano de Cámera de la Real Audiencia de las Islas, casó con Doña Josefa Ignacia de Trujillo, de cuyo matrimonio nació Doña Francisca Xaviera P., que contrajo matrimonio el 19 de octubre de 1755, con Don Tomás Juan Bernardo Miguel de Zárete y Magüer, Capitán de las Milicias de Canarias. Don Agustín Venacio P. y Romero, Juez de Primera Instancia en La Palma, casó el 10 de diciembre de 1851, con Doña Catalina Juana de Lugo y Eduardo, nacida el 30 de marzo de 1825 en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
