Le prime memorie finora accertate di questa fam. rimontano ai fratelli Nicola e Giovanni Perrelli, regi familiari, viventi nel Corpo della città di cava nel sec. XIII, ed al loro germano, giudice Filippo. Da costui discendono gli attuali rappresenatnti della fam. Ricordiamo fra gli altri: Andrea, che nel 1416 presentò a Giovanna II il diploma della regina Margherita di Durazzo a favore della città di Cava, affinchè lo confermasse e che fondò nel 1419 nella chiesa collegiata di S.Maria Maggiore del Corpo di Cava una cappella dedicata a S.Giovanni. Altro Andrea, morto ai primi del 1500, ricordato per i suoi meriti in un diploma di Carlo V del 24 marzo 1536.
